Omid Djalili

Humor is a very personal thing, so for a comedian to appeal to different groups of people he needs to be a special type of person. He needs to know little about everything so he is able to joke about different topics. And he has to have some specialities like mimicking personalities, dialects or other ethnicities. I find all of these properties and a bit more in Omid Djalili. You can read more about him on Wikipedia or IMDB but I give a short info here.

He is a British-Iranian Actor/Stand up. He has been playing in lots of Hollywood movies like Gladiator or Casanova. I had seen him in movies like Gladiator without really noticing him because of his small part (You can not miss him in Casanova). But one time I saw his act on Montreal's Just for Laughs festival and I understood he is on his way up. He is now hosting his own show on BBC. The show is a mix of stand up and sketches. Both his sketches and his stand up takes up lots of issues, but most of the jokes tend to be close to his both homes, Iran and Britain and the problems and joys of happening to be from both and living in Britain. But as I said his comedy is more than that.

His home page is Omid on agenda.
You can see some of his sketches down below.
