Right Brain half or Left Brain half?

According to scientific studies people with artistic talents do have developed right half of the brain and people with advanced analytical and scientific minds have a more developed left half brain.

Click on the picture below and figure out how the girl spins? Answer by posting a comment, add also what your job or field of expertise is. According to an article in an Australian news site people seeing the girl spin clockwise use their right brain half and if they see her spin anti-clockwise they use the left brain half.

Me and my colleagues are engineers so we should be pretty "left brainy" but we all saw her spin clockwise so I do not really believe in the article. I could see her spin anti-clockwise too when looking at her shadow for a while imagining she is turning the other way and then looked at her, try it and will blow you away. This shows that we humans do not sense the reality but what we perceive as the reality.

Beautiful Pictures of Iran

Recently I am getting a lot of e-mails filled with beautiful pictures of Iran like this one. I do love to see beautiful pictures and I do love to see pictures of Iran. But getting so many mails recently with the political conditions of today made me think about the reasons behind the increase of mails including these pictures.

One reason could be increase of national sentiments between common Iranians because of the threat of war from USA and Israel. Another reason that is a bit far fetched but is interesting is that it is some kind of Public Relation done by gods stooges on earth: Khamenei, Ahmadinejad and their followers. This would be a tool for them to increase the nationalistic sentiments between common Iranians both inside and outside Iran.

Rap in Iran

Rap music has its history in the injustice and poverty that black people endured and still endure in ghettos in places like the Bronx or east LA. It described the life of the ordinary people in those areas and their dreams and was used as a mean to fight the injustice and to enlighten people. It is a powerful way to express views and wake people up.

The social injustices and poverty is a daily problem for many people in Iran. Drugs, prostitution, organized crime and also repressive dress laws on the young has turned many artists to revolt through their art. So it is not strange that raps has thrived in this environment.

Artists Like Hich Kas (No one) fight the establishment and injustices in songs like "khoda pasho" (Get up God)

Or the group Etteham singing of lies of politicians and governments intruding in peoples life.

Rap is also used by the opposition to the regime in Tehran. Mujahedin khalq is labeled as a terrorist group and operates outside Iran broadcasting their political views to Iranians via their own satellite channel. This song "sarbaze Irani" (Iranian soldier) tells of the injustice done to the Iranian people by the regime and that reform has failed, it is time for revolution.

Kiosk

Kiosk is another Iranian Group that rocks. Its music is a blend of Mark Knopfler and JJ Cale and a little bit of gypsy. Its lyrics is also not far from the lyrics of Dire Straits. Singing cynical some times of love, and other times about the social and political situations. But there is always a touch of humor in them, although dark. Kiosks videos (2+1 production) are the most artistic videos you can find in Iranian music. Especially "to kojaee" and "ey dad az eshgh" are pretty well done.

To see more of the group please look at their home page.
